  8. Green Days Cluj-Napoca | Thoughts and Observations | Who moved my cheese?

Some random impressions of Green Days Cluj | Peter Beda | AAA

The higher educated want more green in the city, organic food on their table. The lower paid just eat what’s the cheapest. There is green all around the city. And Coca-Cola, of course. Capitalism is the real problem. Anything that disturbs the market must go : nature, quality of life.. It is our duty of the intellectuals, the “cultured people” to wake up the masses.

    *

Local economy and local producers of food are very important for our future. In these modern days, everybody is either selling or buying, but nobody is creating or producing.

    *

When everybody will be poor, when the oil resources will be exhausted - only then we might stand a chance for survival, forced to go back to growing organic food, living a rural life, thinking in small communities. These values were destroyed by communism, then capitalism.

    *

Culture, art and beauty. Roots in the soil, the value of the work done by yourself. We need positive examples of community life. We need more social interaction, e.g. eating food is something to be done together. Create your own social micro-network. Getting your customers used to a certain kind of relation. Genuino Clandestino (Bologna) : illegal as branding. We are not allowed to sell this, but why would you buy something corporate?

    *

Quote : Fuck artists. Everybody is an artist. No difference between stage and public, everybody can participate, a freestyle activist mentality. Act now and make a difference. “Of course this is not te same as where you live, in the Other Europe.” The grass is always greener..

    *

Politics. It’s about connections, getting things done to get something in return. Reality = Favors. When you’re operating alone or outside the money-making system, it’s different, and difficult. Still, we argue that natural connections can be good. With no money involved. So we can serve each other, help each other.

    *

What can we then, learn from Green Days? Roumania, Belgium, Italy and UK all have very different positions, interpretations, artistic visions, linked to their history and local background in a global context. Thus, the allegory : Who moved my cheese?
